BUYING A TRUCK

Questions before you order.

Know what to confirm about the configuration, total cost and delivery before placing an order.

01What is included in a truck quotation?

A truck quotation should itemize the vehicle, bodywork, options, spare parts, inland transport and export handling where applicable. It should state the trade term, named port or place, validity, and whether sea freight, insurance and destination charges are included. Share the country, port, quantity, application and requested configuration.

02Is there a minimum order quantity?

A minimum order quantity is not published for every configuration. Include your required quantity in the enquiry, even for a small order. Ask for written confirmation of the minimum for the exact vehicle and whether different configurations can be combined. A catalogue listing does not confirm stock.

03How long does it take from order to shipment and arrival?

Confirm vehicle availability or production time, inspection, inland transport and vessel booking separately. Agree which event starts the order lead time. Request an estimated loading date and a separate sea transit estimate for the destination port; customs clearance and onward delivery also need their own allowance. Dates remain subject to the agreed order and sailing schedule.

04What payment terms should I confirm?

Before payment, agree the currency, payment method, deposit and balance milestones, required documents and bank charges in the written contract or pro forma invoice. Check that the beneficiary matches the agreed seller. Accepted methods and payment percentages must be confirmed for the order.

05How do I confirm emissions and destination documents?

Registration, emissions and import requirements depend on the destination market and application; a listed Euro emissions class alone does not confirm that a truck can be registered there. Share the country and intended use, then confirm applicable documents with your importer or local adviser and match them to the exact vehicle and engine configuration.

06What does the warranty cover?

Request written terms identifying the warranty provider, covered components, duration or mileage limit, start date and exclusions. Also clarify where repairs can be carried out, who pays labour and freight, and how to submit a claim. Coverage and local service availability must be confirmed for the destination and ordered configuration.

07What information is needed to identify a spare part?

Parts compatibility is checked using the VIN or chassis number, vehicle model, part number if known, and clear photos of the part and nameplate. Engine, gearbox or axle identifiers and key dimensions can help distinguish similar parts. Include quantity and destination; the series name alone is not enough to confirm compatibility.

08Will the truck ship by Ro-Ro, breakbulk or container?

Common export methods include Ro-Ro, breakbulk or flat-rack, and container shipping. Feasibility depends on the route, vehicle dimensions and weight, condition and carrier acceptance; not every route supports every method. Before booking, compare loading, securing, protection and any disassembly or reassembly, then confirm the ports, freight, insurance and destination handling charges.

09Can I order left-hand or right-hand drive?

The destination's required steering position must be specified. Left- or right-hand-drive availability depends on the exact model, engine, gearbox, axle layout and body configuration; confirm it in the order specification. A photo or series options list does not prove that combination is available.

10Are the published specifications my final order specification?

The site shows public reference configurations and series options for comparing requirements. Values from different configurations should not be combined into one truck. Confirm the exact model, equipment, dimensions and availability in the order specification; verify missing or conflicting values separately. Images illustrate appearance and do not confirm the delivered configuration.
